A message from the First Lord of the Admiralty

1 Jan 1941

241 A message from The First Lord of the Admiralty " Warship Weeks have as their primary object a further great effort to raise money by National Saving to pro- vide the sinews of war in the shape of ships and vessels for the Fleet. Great results have already been achieved, but the Savings Campaign, no less than the struggle at sea, on land and in the air, must continue unabated until victory is won. THE Royal Navy has always been close to the hearts of the British people. This war has brought home to us how much we depend on it for the safeguarding of our shores against invasion, and for the protection of those cargoes from overseas which bring us food, raw materials and the tools of victory.
