Food Facts No.189 How to have more fat for cooking

1 Jan 1944

FOOD FACTS How to have more FAT for cooking household, two or three ounces of cooking fat can be ration each week by saving scraps of meat fat which would otherwise just be wasted, and converting these into cooking fat. For example, not everyone likes meat that is very fat. So, before you cook the meat, trim off any spare fat and set aside. Then, many children— and grown-ups too!—leave the fat of meat on their plates, so cut off some of the fat before serving it. (Scraps of fat which taste of onion or some other strong flavour should be kept separate and used only for making savoury dishes.
