Report to the Nation No.10. A call for commonsense

1 Jan 1948

376 REPORT TO THE NATION A call for commonsense THE GOVERNMENT'S "THREE THREES" No. 10 The Government has called attention, as a matter of grave national importance, to the evil consequences of a continued rise in personal incomes (profits, salaries, wages) without a corresponding increase in the quantity of goods produced. This must lead to THREE things— 1 Prices keep rising here at home; higher personal incomes are demanded; that sends up the cost of goods, and their prices, again. And so on. 2 The cost of our exports rises; we cannot sell them against our competitors—and we go hungry.
