From a docto'rs diary. It's not nearly as serious, is it doctor?

1 Jan 1943

From a doctor's diary This is based on a doctor's experience of cases of V.D. It has been carefully edited so that the people concerned shall not be recognised. "'...It's not nearly as serious, is it, doctor?' I'm often asked that about gonorrhœa. But gonorrhœa can be serious enough if it's allowed to get a grip on the system. Only a few days ago I saw a patient of 30. When he was 19, he caught gonorrhœa while he was under the influence of drink. He was so ashamed of what he'd done that, when irritation and discharge started, and he knew he'd got gonorrhœa, he couldn't face going to a doctor or a clinic.
