We must pull together

1 Jan 1948

48 We must pull together HARD WORK AND HARD SAVING are like two horses harnessed to the same plough. Neither can do the job unless the other pulls his weight. THE WORK WE ARE ALL DOING—in the factory or office, in the mine, the mill, the foundry, on the land or at sea—is part of a mighty national effort to restore the greatness of our country and bring prosperity to our people. THIS EFFORT CAN SUCCEED only if it is matched by our determination to use our money wisely. Thoughtless spending can undo all the good results of our work and land us in a plight worse than before the production drive began.
