A message from the Chancellor of the Exchequer

1 Jan 1944

169 The Rt. Hon. SIR JOHN ANDERSON G.C.B., G.C.S.I., G.C.l.E., M.P. Chancellor of the Exchequer " ... I am proud to send you my best wishes for the success of the 'SALUTE THE SOLDIER' campaign. I ask all our people to seize this opportunity of paying their tribute to the British army, which has achieved so much and will achieve so much more. Our soldiers, for their part, expect us to back their efforts with all the financial resources at our command. In answer to this double call, let our tribute take the form of the fullest possible measure of saving and lending.
