From a doctor's diary. Then it wasn't VD after all, doctor?

1 Jan 1944

From a doctor's diary This is based on a doctor's experience of cases of V.D. It has been carefully edited so that the people concerned shall not be recognised. "'...Then it wasn't V.D. after all, doctor?' I was able to tell this patient that she had not got V.D. She was a woman of 36 who had formed a friendship with a man, and one night intimacy took place. Later, he told her he was being treated for gonorrhœa. She was terrified and when she developed a discharge shortly afterwards, quite naturally believed she had caught gonorrhœa from him.
