From a doctor's diary. Is VD treatment something new, doctor?

1 Jan 1945

From a doctor's DIARY 107 "Is V.D. treatment something new, doctor?" No, not at all. Free Treatment Centres for V.D. were started many years ago — in 1916 in fact. More than a hundred were opened to cope with the increase in V.D. during the last War when the problem was more serious than it is now. By 1920 there were over two hundred treatment centres in Great Britain and hundreds of doctors, nurses and laboratory workers had been trained specially for V.D. work. By 1939 the number of early syphilis cases coming for treatment had dropped to one-third of the 1920 figure.
