These young men (171/2 to 26) are specially chosen not only for their fitness to fly but also for leadership—the Air Force looks to them for its future leaders. Pilots and navigators considered suitable are guaranteed commissions after satisfactory completion of flying and officer training. Engineers, gunners and signallers will have the opportunity, later on, of commissions in a ground branch.
