Who's got £6,000 million

1 Jan 1950

WHO'S GOT £6,000 MILLION? Six thousand one hundred million pounds was the total held in National Savings on December 31st, 1949 —an average of £122 for every man, woman and child in the country. That figure is mounting. It could mount quicker. It will mount quicker when those who do not save —save a little; and those who save a little—save more. Already 27 million people have done themselves a bit of good by investing in National Savings—for 27 million people own that £6,100,000,000. But the population of the British Isles is 49,000,000.
