Royal Air Force

1 Jan 1948

The R.A.F. needs aircrews Proudest Profession ... The Royal Air Force is offering to selected volunteers the chance of joining as aircrew. This is a career for hand-picked young men (between 171/2 and 25 years old) who will fly the cream of the world's aircraft—who must have wits as well as guts—who must carry on the famous tradition of the Service into the future. Moreover every pilot and navigator considered suitable for officer rank will be offered a Short Service Commission. Signallers, engineers and gunners will be considered for re-engagement as aircrew with a view to pension, and they will have opportunities of ground branch commissions later.
