Increased need for scrap from farms

1 Jan 1940

FARMERS' "SCRAP GROUPS" In different parts of your farm there must be any amount of rusty iron. Discarded ploughs, parts of an old tractor, leaky pails, iron troughs, and such like. They are needed urgently for melting down to make both war material and implements you may yourself need shortly. Your pile amounts perhaps to less than a ton—but by forming a "scrap group" with your nearest neighbours the total amount of scrap will undoubtedly justify the expense of collection, which the Iron and Steel Control, Ministry of Supply, is prepared to arrange for in the general interest.
