VICE ADMIRAL PARRY said that it would be valuable if the Foreign Office representative were to obtain the necessary background information from the Joint Intelligence Committee, Washington, before engaging in any discussions on this subject with the Americans. He suggested, therefore, that the letter to the Joint Intelligence Committee, Washington, should be amended in the light of the information supplied by Mr. Johnston and cleared with the Commonwealth Relations Office before despatch. THE COMMITTEE :(a) Instructed the Secretary to amend the draft letter, at Annex I, to the Joint Intelligence Committee, Washington, in the light of the discussion and, subject to the concurrence of the Foreign Office and the Commonwealth Relations Office, to arrange for its despatch.
