3. COLLECTION OF INFORMATION IN CZECHOSLOVAKIA MR. HAYTER said that the British Ambassador in Prague had recently said that the Czechoslovaks appeared anxious to maintain trade relations with the West. It had been suggested, therefore, that the Commercial Counsellor, who had the most useful contacts, could, if suitably briefed, gather much useful information of a technical and economic nature. To this end, it would be desirable that a brief for the Commercial Counsellor, covering the requirements of the Joint Intelligence Bureau and the Joint Scientific and Joint Technical Intelligence Committees, should be prepared and forwarded for his guidance as a matter of urgency, particularly as the facilities available to him would probably later be gradually reduced.
