Subjects covered in the file include the chaotic situation in China resulting from the Cultural Revolution; disputes on the border between the Soviet Union and China; and Soviet accusations of Chinese attempts to sabotage the peace process in Vietnam. Other subjects discussed include Chinese officials' walkout from May Day speeches in Moscow; a complicated power struggle within the Chinese communist party, which led to the "liquidation" of the party in Beijing; a pause in anti-Chinese rhetoric in the Soviet media during a conference of European communist parties; the expulsion of Chinese exchange students from Bulgaria; Chinese accusations of Soviet collaboration with the United States; and the seizure of a Soviet ship in China. Documents in the file include translations of articles written by a Polish journalist in Beijing, Daniel Luliński.
