A file of memoranda relating to the British War Cabinet's policy on rail travel provisions for military personnel during the war. Subjects covered in the file include concerns over the increase of passenger traffic; a proposal to reduce passenger traffic by increasing fares and rationing rail tickets to discourage civilian travel; and statistics on the mileage of passengers and the number of journeys taken. Other subjects covered include concession fares for certain classes, such as blind people, the unemployed, and military personnel undergoing military training; the provision of travel certificates for the wives and children of military personnel; and rail transport provisions for military personnel on privilege leave and duty travel.
