Ask young Smith about productivity

1 Jan 1948

319 Ask young Smith about PRODUCTIVITY "Productivity?" Young Smith has never even heard of it; he certainly couldn't spell it. At the moment, his particular worry is writing out, two hundred times: "I must not bring white mice into class." Young Smith is tackling the job with his usual ingenuity: he has fastened two pens together so that he can write two lines at once. Result: with the same amount of effort, he'll get twice the output. Twice the output is a terrific figure. Agreed. But some firms have stepped up their output by as much as one half, and quite a lot are showing very useful results.
