Food Facts No.126 Winter Milk

1 Jan 1942

Winter Milk FOOD FACTS In winter even the most patriotic cows give less milk — war or no war. Yet the demand for milk is greater than ever before. The National Milk Scheme is chiefly responsible for this increase. Those who need milk most—expectant mothers, children and invalids—are allowed the same amount of milk winter and summer. In winter, in order to secure enough milk for these priorities the rest of us must do with less. The non-priority allowance is now 2 pints a week; even this is not a guaranteed amount.
