Wealth is what you do with it

1 Jan 1949

Wealth is what you do with it Our wealth is coal; a 10,000-year-old legacy of which each successive genera- tion inherits a little less. And what does a wise man do with a great but slowly dimin- ishing inheritance? Save it? Yes—by put- ting his wealth to work: to produce more wealth for himself and the community. Wise man in our latter generations is Mr. Therm. He save coal—and plenty of it. The 22 million tons that are carbonised every year into gas and coke, provide our homes and industries with all the heat & comfort and productive power that some 50 million tons of uncarbonised coal could yield.
