ONE of the two thousand irreplaceable products of coal is Sulphate of Ammonia, that very valuable fertiliser. Every year the British farmer receives 87,000 tons from the gas industry. The carbonisation of coal in gas works releases all this extra wealth from Britain's precious resources of coal. Dozens of British industries look to the gas industry for raw materi- als — motor spirit, dye - stuffs, plastics, fine chemicals.
