Electricity surcharge and rebate

1 Jan 1949

277 ELECTRICITY Surcharge and rebate "If electricity costs more, the public will realise the urgency of using less." That was the reasoning which prompted the Government's request that British Electricity should introduce a surcharge on certain domestic tariffs during three winter months. The surcharge is not intended to increase revenue: it will be off- set by a rebate for the following nine months. This arrangement — and the Peak Period economy you are asked to make — should even out your household electricity bills for the year.
