Food Facts No.109 calling all mothers

1 Jan 1942

are you a ship-saver? This Week's FOOD FACTS Don't worry because you can't give the children the foods you used to give them, foods such as fruit and meat. New potatoes, raw, shredded vegetables will give them sufficient Vitamin C, while for body-building you can't beat cheese. For the time being the cheese ration has been increased to 8 oz. weekly. A meal of bread, margarine, cheese, milk, and a salad of raw, shredded vegetables is grand for children. This is, in fact, the Health Meal or Oslo Breakfast which greatly improved the health of the Norwegian school-children before the war.
