I couldn't look my baby in the face!

1 Jan 1947

231 DO I WASTE ELECTRICITY AND GAS? "RIDICULOUS!" I said at first. "Impossible to save electricity and gas, with a baby!" But when I thought of Baby's future I was sorry I'd spoken. I couldn't look him in the face if I hadn't done my best to save fuel. If the factories need more gas and electricity, I must try to use less. Why, if we each did without one hour's supply this week it would save enough fuel to make thousands of yards of clothing materials and linen that we all need. It's not easy, but it can be done, and we must all help.
