Food Facts No. 53 Black sheep - black markets

1 Jan 1941

129 FOOD FACTS NO. 53 BLACK SHEEP- BLACK MARKETS Since the war the Ministry of Food has obtained convictions in 22,356 cases of offences against rationing or price control. Why has this been necessary? Only because thoughtless people do not realise that rationing and price control are part of our war effort, and selfish traders deliberately make excessive profits. Because of this the Ministry of Food will put the crooked dealer out of business by revoking his licence. This is part of the Ministry's ceaseless campaign against the Black Market.
