What do I do… when I hear short blasts on whistles?

1 Jan 1941

What do I do... when I hear short blasts on whistles? I remember that this is no longer merely a signal for an air-raid "alert." It means that fire-bombs are falling. So whenever I hear whistles, night or day, I keep a sharp look-out for fire-bombs. If I see them, I remember it is my duty to help in tackling them—watchers or no watchers. So I get to know where the nearest fire-fighting appliances are. And I remember — "Soon tackled, soon out." Cut this out—and keep it!
