BREAD MINISTRY OF FOOD "To make sure of your share" BREAD RATIONING On and after July 21st, 1946, bread, flour, cakes, buns and scones will be rationed in one scheme and measured in BREAD UNITS (BU's). This will allow you as much freedom of choice as possible. BU values will be as follows: 1 small loaf (14 oz.) — 2 BU's 1 large loaf (1 lb. 12 oz.) — 4 BU's FLOUR: 1lb. — 3 BU's; 3lb. — 9 BU's CAKES, BUNS, SCONES: 1/2lb.—1 BU; 1 lb.—2 BU's You can spend your Bread Units where you choose, on what you choose of these flour foods, and when you choose within each 4-week period, but remember they have to last for the whole period.
