The Battle for Fuel Communique No 24

1 Jan 1943

441 Keep it off your fire—so that more coal will be available to make Ships, Guns, Tanks, Planes and Shells, for the men of the United Nations— who in Russia, North Africa, the Far East and on the Seven Seas, are fighting for final victory. They look to us to provide these arms ... and they shall have them—if you will save the coal that goes into their making. Next time you go to put an extra lump on the fire, to switch on the electric stove in your bedroom, to light the gas for an extra cup of tea, ask yourself which is more important—these little comforts, or the help we can and must give the armed forces of the United Nations? You know the answer—act on it.
