189 MINISTRY OF SUPPLY On and after JAN. 1ST. it will be AN OFFENCE to run TYRES with the FABRIC SHOWING Under The Motor Vehicles (Restriction of Use) (No. 2) Order, 1942 which comes into force on January 1st, 1943, " No person shall use or cause or permit to be used on a highway any vehicle on any of the running tyres of which the cotton or similar fabric is visible." This Order has been made because : • 90% of the world's natural rubber resources are in Japanese hands. • It is vitally necessary to conserve every ounce of our rubber supplies.
