422 THE BATTLE FOR FUEL REMEMBER households differ greatly, but on the average about 3/4 of the fuel is shared equally between heating rooms and heating water; 1/5 is used for cooking and the rest for lighting, radio, iron, etc. Here is an example of an actual household:— A household of 2 residents living in 4 rooms last year used 3 tons 12 cwts. of coke and coal for heating rooms and water; 15,000 cubic feet of gas for cooking; 50 units of electricity (equal 1 fuel unit) for lighting. In all, 175 fuel units.
