Here are some practical tips for stretch- ing the sugar ration. Stretch it with SACCHARIN In the quantities in which it is used for sweetening foods and drinks, saccharin is completely harmless. As a sweetener 3 or 4 stand- ard tablets are equal to 1 oz. sugar. Saccharin should always be added to a sweet after it has been boiled, otherwise it turns bitter.
