Britain's Transportation becomes a national service for advertisers

1 Jan 1949

387 BRITAIN'S TRANSPORTATION BECOMES A NATIONAL SERVICE FOR ADVERTISERS ADVERTISERS AND THEIR AGENTS are reminded that from today the letting and sale of all advertising space on the British Transport System will come under the authority of the Commercial Advertisement Division of the British Transport Commission (subject to existing licences in favour of certain advertising contractors). Apart from offering advertisers the immediate and obvious advantage of being able to secure a nation-wide selection of transportation sites through a single channel, the new system will make it possible progressively to standardise sites, to remove anomalies and overlapping in regard to spaces and rates and to build up a comprehensive information service on local and national coverage.
