Bunches (buses)

1 Jan 1949

Bunches WHY do We sometimes find three buses on the same route arriving to- gether at the bus stop? What is the explanation of bunching? It is really quite simple. Consider the No. 11 route. Buses are timed to give a two-minute service. That means that they are about 600 yards apart. But on their journey from Liverpool Street they must negotiate the congested traffic centres of the Bank, Ludgate Circus, Trafalgar Square and Victoria Station. Suppose a bus is held up for just two minutes at one of these places.
