Food Facts No.292 Our bread - An urgent message from the Minister of Food

1 Jan 1946

448 FOOD FACTS BREAD OUR An urgent message from the Minister of Food In the first six months of this year the world will have to do with at least five million tons of wheat less than it needs. In many countries this means hunger and, unless they get relief, starvation and death. On your behalf the Government have agreed to help these countries by cutting down our imports of wheat. To make up some of the loss, we are going back, for the time being, to the war-time loaf. Can you, personally, do anything to help still further? Yes.
