Safe conduct

1 Jan 1949

387 Safe conduct NO sensible man will dart into a stream of traffic, even on a crossing. He knows cars can't stop instantly, especially in wet weather. He will wait for a gap, so that the next driver can see him and stop. And the sensible driver will gladly give way to pedestrians on a crossing. He knows that if people are encouraged to use the marked crossings, fewer will be tempted to dodge across elsewhere. People on foot can contribute just as much as drivers or cyclists to the safety of our roads.
