serve more potatoes - and serve the country

1 Jan 1943

This advertisement will appear in the Hotel and Catering Trade papers, commencing January 1943. "More potatoes, less bread." That's to-day's slogan. For more ships are urgently needed for the offensive and wheat is almost entirely ship-borne. Potatoes can largely substitute bread, and you're the one to effect the change. Potatoes prepared in enticing ways and served in large helpings may not sound like war-like work, but, in fact, it's probably the most important contribution you can make to the nation's war effort to-day.
