£5 Notes dated before Sept 2 1944 must be exchanged

281 £5 NOTES dated before September 2nd 1944 must be exchanged by Thursday, February 28th. After that date they cease to be legal tender. Why not take your £5 notes to a Bank or Post Office, and turn them into NATIONAL SAVINGS CERTIFICATES or DEFENCE BONDS or A SAVINGS BANK DEPOSIT In any case, don't keep more cash in the house than you need for imme- diate purposes.
