When we say "as full of meat as an egg," we speak truly, for eggs are a protein food, the very same kind of food as meat. Even so, eggs aren't actually full of "meat." In fact, three-quarters of a hen's egg is water! And dried eggs are simply new-laid eggs with only the water and shell removed. They have exactly the same food value as shell eggs—none of the goodness is lost in drying.
