Why Kerb Drill?

1 Jan 1946

WHY KERB DRILL? The restoration of basic petrol brought, overnight, a threefold threat to the safety of school children ... increased traffic, cars inadequately overhauled, some drivers a little rusty too. Pre-war figures show that 25% of all pedestrians killed in road accidents are children under II. In some areas, 1 boy in 12 meets with an accident during the 9 years of his school life. To aggravate present dangers, no child under 8 can have any experience of normal traffic. Few children up to 12 years can remember peacetime conditions.
