The greasy road did it, officer

1 Jan 1946

No. 12 (6 × 31/2) "The greasy road did it, officer!" "Yes," said Policeman 179, "the road was like a bit of glass. Going a bit too fast, he skidded and knocked down a little girl. What a tragedy! It all comes of taking chances in slippery weather." ¶ Over 130,000 people were killed or injured on the roads in 1944. Conditions are even more dangerous to- day. Traffic is heavier. Surfaces are worn, and extra treacherous when it's wet or frosty. Don't be ashamed of being cautious. Think of others, and keep out of danger yourself.
