97 H.M. Procurator General's Department, Storey's Gate, St. James' Park, S.W.1. 19th April 1921. Sir, 39 I am directed by H.M. Attorney-General to acknowledge the receipt of Mr. Tufton's letter of the 14th inst., C.7335/29/18, transmitting a copy of a letter addressed by Mrs. Rose Hutchinson to the Admiralty relative to the forthcoming trial at Leipzig of Lieut. Commander Werner, who is charged with the destruction of the S.S. "Torrington". In reply, I am to acquaint you, for the information of the Secretary of State, that on the day upon which Mrs. Hutchinson wrote to the Admiralty she also addressed a letter in somewhat similar terms to Mr. Gratton Doyle, M.P., who handed it to the Attorney-General. A copy of the reply which was returned to Mrs. Hutchinson is enclosed and a further letter has to-day been addressed to her informing her that it is not at present possible to add anything to the information then given to her.
