5. PIGS 4. SHEEP (b) Regional Variations. The whole of the increase in calf slaugh in the last fortnight was in England and Wales, there being a small decrease in slaughterings in Scotland. (a) Trend of Marketings. The total number of sheep purchased for the two weeks ended August 9th, 1941, was 170,000 slaughter during less than last year. This continues the trend of recent weeks of slaughterings of sheep. (b) Regional Variations. Table II shows the total number of fat s### purchased in each country of the United Kingdom during the two week August 9th this year compared with the same fortnight in 1940.
