23 (THIS DOCUMENT IS THE PROPERTY OF HIS BRITANNIC MAJESTX'S GOVERNMENT.) SECRET. L.P. (B)(42.)9. COPY NO. 23 19th June, 1942. WAR CABINET. LORD PRESIDENT"S COMMITTEE. SUB-COMMITTEE ON THE SUPPLY OF BOOKS. FORCES BOOK CLUB. Memorandum by the War Office. 1. The supply of books to the Forces for recreational reading, especially for reading of a more serious kind, is at the present time an urgent problem. There can be no doubt that an adequate supply of reading matter is necessary for the prevention of boredom and for the maintenance of morale, especially in periods of enforced relative inactivity.
