4. POSTAL SERVICES At Torquay the Head Office and Town Sub-Office suffered slight damage on 8th January. 5. GAS AND ELECTRICITY Gas Gas mains were damaged by H.E. bombs at Maplethorpe on 6th January, Guestling, Sussex on 9th January and Teignmouth on 10th January. Electricity Enemy bombing during 10th January caused a failure of the supply to Mablethorpe for 31/2 hours. A report has now been received that on 4th January a German plane which crashed into an overhead line giving supplies to Winchelsea Beach from Hastings caused failure of supply for 4 hours.
