4. POSTAL SERVICES On 7th February minor damage was caused to the Eastbourne Head Office and to sub-Offices in Bournemouth, Hastings and Ashford. On 9th February there was a direct hit on the Crawley Head Office and minor damage was caused at Bexley Heath sub-Office. 5. GAS AND ELECTRICITY Gas. On 3rd February gas mains at Ashford and Sunderland were damaged by H.E. bombs. Normal supply and pressure were restored to the Hastings district on 5th February (A.R.D.(43)5, paragraph 4). Electricity. Twelve Reports of damage to overhead lines, probably caused by drifting barrage balloons, have been received.
