The Committee had before them - (i) a memorandum by the Joint Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Scotland (L.P.(45) 239), seeking authority for the submission to the Legislation Committee and early introduction of a Hill Farming (Scotland) Bill, and (ii) a memorandum by the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries (L.P.(45) 247) proposing that any legislation dealing with the hill sheep farming industry should apply to the whole of the United Kingdom.
