The Committee had under consideration a memorandum by the Lord President of the Council (L.P. (42) 118) on the coal production programme for 1942/43. THE LORD PRESIDENT said that after the discussion in the War Cabinet on the 10th April the Prime Minister had sent him certain suggestions for reducing the demand for coal, or for sustaining output, which might make it unnecessary to withdraw ex-miners from the Field Army.
