The net deficiency of 35,000 tons of milling ### resulting from an alteration in the milling ratio on March 16th ### met by drawing upon working stocks of other forms of cereal feeding stuffs in the hands of distributors and manufacturers, but this wo### merely a palliative and sooner or later the stocks would have to be restored to their existing dimensions. Moreover, these savings w### be barely sufficient to meet the deficiency. A saving of 24,000 in supplies would be achieved by deferring the alteration in the m### ratio until March 30th; and rations for all classes of stock could then be maintained until April 30th and a small balance provided ### contingencies, if stocks in the hands of distributors were drawn ### suggested above.
