Blockade Running between German Europe and the Far East. Note by Secretary

1 Oct 1942

2. Eleven blockade-runners are known to have reached Bay of Biscay ports from Japanese waters since the middle of 1941, carrying in all some 70/80,000 tons of cargo including possibly 50,000 tons of rubber. At least thirteen vessels are believed to have departed for the Far East during the same period, presumably carrying machinery, machine tools, special steels, and other items particularly desired by Japan; and twelve are now at sea en route from the Far East to Europe. 3. Only two or three blockade-runners have been casualties thus far+.
