(f) In June, 1943, we got a message saying that two army battalions (about 2000) had moved to Sabang, bringing the total to one regiment (total 3000). (g) With the usual proportion of administrative troops, A.A. coast defences, etc. we think it reasonable to assume that the garrison is now about 6,000. Northern Sumatra (h) The First Guards Division (about 15,000) was identified in Sumatra in March 1942, and again last summer. Since then however there have been reports that parts of that Division have been in Sabang, Malaya and the Andamans.
