Burma and Malaya. Japanese Threat Against: Memo.

1 Jul 1940

6. Should the Japanese, with the use of sea transport, effect landings on the Southern Thai Peninsula, they would achieve the following objects:(a) Interfere with the already poor communications between Burma and Malaya; (b) Establish bases from which attacks by land could be developed against Malaya and possibly also against Burma. Simultaneous landings would probably be made at widely separated points. The location of air bases and the layout of communications indicate Chum Pon, Bandon, Nakawn, Sritamarat and Songkla as probable points for attack.
